CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL DANUBE DAY IN SULINA
On the Danube Day 29 June, the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Authority (DDBRA) Visitor Center from Sulina hosted an event dedicated to the Danube River. It was a day filled with purpose and passion where students from “Jean Bart” High School, volunteers from Asociația Cu drag din Sulina and DDBRA staff came together to honor the Danube river. The children eagerly got involved, creating wooden magnets with eco-friendly messages and unique symbols of the Delta. From creative workshops
to eco-messages offered to tourists, the youth became true ambassadors of nature. Through the initiative, we aimed to highlight the essential role each of us plays in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
It was a great occasion to spotlight the LIFE Danube Free Sky project, a unique example of wide transnational cooperation along with one of the most important migration corridors, stop-over sites, and wintering places for many bird species in Europe - the Danube river. Moreover, the children received T-shirts and hats created within the project.
It was a thoughtful gesture that not only rewards their involvement but also strengthens their connection to the cause.
Together, through education and involvement, we can keep the Danube alive for future generations!
