On July 31st and August 1st, the final birdwatching activities took place in Romania as part of the LIFE DANUBE FREE SKY project. Children from the Summer School organized by the Carum Association, accompanied by coordinating teachers, explored the Tulcea – Somova – Parcheș route together with the ornithology expert

from the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development in Tulcea and representatives of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Authority (ARBDD).

The activity began with a short visit to the ARBDD headquarters, where the children learned many fascinating things about the species targeted by the LIFE Danube Free Sky project, which benefit from protection through its implemented actions.

Among the species observed in the field were European rollers, Bee eaters, Dalmatian pelicans, Pygmy cormorants, Mute swans, Gulls, Red-footed falcons, and other birds.

With every step, the children learned about the importance of conserving birdlife and natural habitats within the Danube Delta. We thank everyone involved for an educational and inspiring experience!
