EXPERIENCE THE ENCHANTING WORLD OF WHITE STORKS IN REAL TIME

Watch unforgettable footage of White Storks (Ciconia ciconia) nesting from their return from African wintering grounds to the raising of their young ones! Click HERE and watch the storks online in real time through live stream thanks to the camera installed on the nest in Kopačevo, Croatia. White Storks are returning from their wintering sites at the end of March to nest and raise their offspring. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to witness the nesting process of these iconic migratory birds in real time, directly from the comfort of your home.

The featured nest is located in the village of Kopačevo, adjacent to the Kopački rit Nature Park. Due to safety concerns, the original nest, situated on an electric pole, was relocated to a newly installed metal platform, ensuring the storks are free from the risks associated with power lines. You can watch the storks online here: https://danubefreesky.eu/en/about-project/watch-live-white-storks-nest.

Today, let's take a moment to appreciate the incredible beauty of our planet and the amazing wildlife that calls it home. From the tiniest insects to the largest mammals, every species plays a vital role in maintaining the balance of nature. But with increasing threats like habitat loss, climate change, and poaching, many of these species are at risk.

On the International Bird Day, we are releasing new video from series from Romania, this time focused on the using of the satellite transmitters in the conservation of Dalmatian Pelicans (Pelecanus crispus). Meet Sebastian Bugariu, an ornithologist from the Romanian Ornithological Society (SOR) / BirdLife Romania who will explain how these transmitters help us and what insights we can gain from them.

FIFTH VOLUNTEER ACTION ORGANIZED BY THE NATURE PARK KOPAČKI RIT

On Wednesday, March 19, the fifth and final volunteer action in Croatia was held at Kopački rit at the Kopačevo Visitors Center within the LIFE Danube Free Sky project. Students and teachers from the Faculty of Educational Sciences from Osijek participated in the workshop, during which we made nest boxes for the European roller (Coracias garrulus). European roller is one of the 12 target species in the project that once nested in Kopački rit, but due to the modernization of agricultural production, they no longer nest there.
