CLOSER TO THE NATURE ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
The second bird watching activity organized within the Life Danube Free Sky project took place yesterday, on 5th of June 2024, occasion to celebrate World Environment Day together with a group of students from Tulcea Brad Segal Technological High School, future ecologists professionally trained by their teachers for a sustainable future of natural values.
The activity took place in Zaghen Polder, an ecological reconstruction area, close to Tulcea town, a very rich place in terms of biodiversity, especially of bird species.
The students were delighted to learn many interesting things about the species targeted by the Life Danube Free Sky project that will benefit from protection by the implementation of the project activities. The children could observe through the scopes and binoculars two of these target species, such as the European roller and the Dalmation pelican, but also many bee eaters, starlings, common pelicans, summer swans, marsh harriers, etc.
Also, during the activity, it was presented the significance of the World Environment Day, there were interactive discussions about the need for ecological reconstruction and biological restoration actions, knowledge of flora and fauna species, environmental protection in general.
