Exkurzia VSF fotoJoin us!🙂 From 10:00 - 12:00 we invite you to a birdwatching event at Hrušovská zdrž (Čunovo - Bratislava, Slovakia) with expert commentary, we will also talk about the activities we are implementing to protect birds from hitting power lines with the demonstrations of flight diverters.

The event will be held in the Slovak language, more information can be found in the invitation (in SK): HERE.

Hrušovská zdrž is part of the Special Protection Area Dunajské luhy, which was declared also for the protection of wintering birds. This place has become a key wintering site for several species. Flocks of wintering Tufted Duck and Common Pochard reach one of the highest numbers in Central Europe. Wintering Common Goldeneye in severe winters even forms the largest aggregations in Europe. In total, more than 40 species of waterfowl can be observed here during the winter.

F.1.1 Project Board Meeting 23 11 2022 zmensenaThe first in-person meeting of the project partners after 2 years of restrictions has been conducted on the 23rd of November in the Hungarian city of Tata. The topics we discussed were focused on the project action status, next steps, and fruitful discussions between the project partners about the best practices of using various types of flight diverters. We are very glad that we could meet personally after a long period of time.

The European Roller is a protected species that nests in holes in earth slopes, rock niches, stone walls, tree hollows, and in cavities of concrete electricity poles. The population of this blue-colored bird began to suffer a drastic decline in the 1950s. The use of pesticides in agriculture was the main cause.
