On July 31st and August 1st, the final birdwatching activities took place in Romania as part of the LIFE DANUBE FREE SKY project. Children from the Summer School organized by the Carum Association, accompanied by coordinating teachers, explored the Tulcea – Somova – Parcheș route together with the ornithology expert
At the end of July, monitoring activities of artificial nest boxes for the Red-footed Falcon and the European Roller were completed in Northern and Northwestern Bulgaria. These boxes were installed in 2022 in suitable habitats by joint teams from the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) and Electrodustribution Grid West (EDG West), as part of the LIFE Danube Free Sky project. A total of 50 nest boxes were installed for each of the two bird species.

On the Danube Day 29 June, the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Authority (DDBRA) Visitor Center from Sulina hosted an event dedicated to the Danube River. It was a day filled with purpose and passion where students from “Jean Bart” High School, volunteers from Asociația Cu drag din Sulina and DDBRA staff came together to honor the Danube river. The children eagerly got involved, creating wooden magnets with eco-friendly messages and unique symbols of the Delta. From creative workshops
On June 29, we celebrate Danube Day! This mighty river connects countries and people across Europe, stretching from Germany to Romania. The project teams from Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania meet during the first week of June at the very end of the Danube River - in the magnificent Danube Delta. Meetings were held about the progress in the implementation of the project actions and plans for the next - final stage of our LIFE Danube Free Sky project were accompanied by the field trip where partners have the chance to see the already implemented measures.
